When I was a child, my father, Keith A.Warren (now deceased),worked as a Labor Law attorney along side Donna Fisher.  My brothers (Mark and Blake Warren), and I often stopped by the office with our mom for a quick visit.  My Dad never neglected taking us by Donna's office to say hello.  We always ended up talking about her love: The Memphis Zoo! Even as a young person it was easy to feel Donna's joy about being an advocate for the animals!

I was so shocked to hear our dear, dear friend Donna Fisher had passed. She was like a sister to me. My husband and I loved her so much. She brought us great joy, and we will love her forever. She is in the hands of G-d. G-d bless you, Donna. We will be sending a donation in her memory to ZAP.

I just learned of Donna’s passing. We shared an apartment in graduate-student housing during Donna’s last  year at Vanderbilt Law School. She introduced me to garlic cheese grits, fried okra, and the orangutan at the Memphis Zoo that had a crush on her mother. I convinced her to attend a Bette Midler concert with me, and I accompanied her to see Liza Minnelli. I visited her family, she visited mine. We stayed in touch in the years that followed completion of our respective degrees, and I followed her many travels with delight and quite a bit of awe. I admit I wasn’t that brave.

When Donna was diagnosed with MS, I continued to follow her progress, with even greater awe for the new levels of bravery and strength she demonstrated. I last talked with Donna on the evening of her birthday as she was headed out for a celebratory dinner with friends. She sounded as she always did—looking ahead, never pausing for sympathy. And that is how I will remember her: filled with energy, determination, and joy.

Thank you for allowing me to share my memories. I hope that yours are bringing you similar comfort.

Gary,  thank you for sharing the lovely and informative tribute to Donna.  She was a Lausanne friend from the Class of 1967.  I contacted many of her classmates when I heard the news just last week.  We remember her grace and beautiful smile and her love of theatre and dancing as well as her academic success.  When we had an occasional reunion she attended in spite of the MS.  She will be missed.

This is a beautiful memorial for Ms Donna who was an interesting combination of sweetness and humility combined with a quick wit and competitive nature.  Sort of like sugar and spice.  I'll miss her fantastic smile which she was never, ever without.  I am pretty sure she was too good for this world.

I've enjoyed my friendship with Donna for many years. We went to the theater and played cards together. I met Donna through my friend Cheryl Engle. We did a murder mystery together on a train on the Collierville town square. She had an amazing wit and was one of the sweetest people I've ever met. I will miss her dearly!

Donna was a terrific friend for many years. We volunteered at the zoo in ZAP and later played games and went to the theatre. She was always upbeat and smiling. An all around wonderful friend. I will miss her greatly.
